MindWave CoreVault

Decisions made in the long light.

MindWave CoreVault is a boutique consultancy that helps organisations untangle complex strategic problems, one well-lit session at a time. We work slowly, deliberately, and without the noise that usually surrounds this kind of work.

The Story Behind Us

MindWave CoreVault started in the autumn of 2019, when Nathaniel Forsythe left a senior strategy role at a mid-sized infrastructure firm in Bristol after seven years. The work there was good, but the pace was not. Decisions were made in ro…

How We Work

01

Unhurried by Design

We do not rush a diagnosis. Every engagement begins with a listening period, usually two to three weeks, before we write a single recommendation. The best thinking happens when there is room to breathe.

02

One Problem at a Time

We take on a small number of clients at any given time. That is not a marketing line. It means your problem gets our full attention, not a slice of it shared across a dozen accounts.

03

Written, Not Presented

Our deliverables are documents you can read at your own pace, share with your board, and return to in six months. We do not hide conclusions inside a slide deck that requires us in the room to decode.

04

No Retainer Traps

We work on defined engagements with a clear scope and a clear end date. If you need us again, we are glad to hear it. But we will not design the work to make you dependent on us.

Why Most Strategy Documents Fail Before They Are Read

A strategy document that nobody reads is not a strategy. It is a record of time spent. Most organisations produce at least one of these per year, and most of the people who commissioned them know, somewhere, that the document will not change much. Here is why that happens, and what the alternative looks like.

How to Prepare a Leadership Team for a Strategy Offsite

The quality of a strategy offsite is largely determined before anyone arrives at the venue. Most of the things that go wrong on the day, the circular conversations, the decisions that are not quite decisions, the energy that dissipates after lunch, are the product of preparation that was either skipped or done in the wrong order. Here is what the preparation should actually look like.

What an Organisational Diagnostic Actually Tells You

The most common response we hear after delivering an organisational diagnostic is some version of: 'We knew this, but we had not said it out loud.' That is not a failure of the diagnostic. It is the point of it. The value is not in discovering something nobody knew. It is in producing a written account of what everyone knew privately but had not yet made official.

Who runs the shop

Nathaniel Forsythe
Founder, Established since 2019

Nathaniel Forsythe

Nathaniel Forsythe spent seven years as a senior strategy adviser at Meridian Infrastructure Partners in Bristol before founding MindWave CoreVault in autumn 2019. He trained originally as an organisational psychologist at the University of Exeter, then spent three years at a management consultancy in Edinburgh before moving in-house. The decision to go independent came after one too many strategy days that produced a great deal of energy and very little clarity. He works from a small office in Bristol, starts every morning with a walk along the Avon before the city wakes up, and keeps a running notebook of questions he has not yet answered. He reads slowly and on purpose.
